![]() So even if I have a 20A branch circuit, I'm not allowed to have two outlets and use those to run both mill and lathe on one breaker, even though neither machine presents much of a starting load, and both machines use at most 3-4 amps when running. ![]() It can't have more than one outlet per branch circuit coming from the breaker panel. ![]() And I keep getting told that circuits supply run motors must have their own circuit supplied by their own breaker. If the machines have their own fused disconnects next to them to protect the motors what size breakers do we need to plan for each circuit? And can you explain how one figures this? I always thought motors needed breakers sized 125% bigger than the load, but have seen numbers much bigger than 125% also.ĥ and 10 amp breakers are not available for this panel. My understanding is that each must have its own branch circuit, or I can put a singe breaker in and put fused disconnects at each machine if I want to run them off of the same breaker. The other two have 3/4 hp three phase 230v 3A or so. This might also be purchased with 230v motor pulling 12A, depending on how things pan out with what fits in our various breaker panels. One machine has a 5 HP motor, 480V three phase, about 6A. I have some new equipment getting installed in my shop and wanted to make sure that we have adequate power and breakers available before we call the electricians in. Can someone explain circuit breaker sizing for branch circuits for motors? I'm not finding a lot of good info out there. ![]()
